For starters, it’s a good, solid serial killer series
Narrative
Series adaptation of James Patterson’s novels about the complicated and brilliant detective Alex Cross. Hodge is the third actor to play Cross, following Morgan Freeman, who first played him on screen in 1997’s Kiss the Girls and again in the 2001 sequel Along Came a Spider; and Tyler Perry as the title character in 2012’s Alex Cross, which was a box office flop and led Lionsgate to cancel the planned sequel Double Cross.
So I’ve written it off
However, I think it’s the poor cousin of the UK’s Luther starring Idris Elba. Both he and Cross are considered to have extraordinary psychological analysis skills.
With Luther you get that
With Cross you don’t. There are only two times in 8 episodes where he does the whole “Spideysense” thing and provides analysis that the others simply don’t see.
And the last point is Iasiah Mustafa
Then there’s the lackluster acting from some of the lead actors. Their scenes just don’t do justice to the great acting of the main characters.
Fun series but I think Luther does it better
In this series he is the spitting image of Andy Farrell, the coach of the Irish rugby team. One is a black guy and the other is a white guy but, boy, the resemblance is uncanny!
