Eventually, Goldstein talked to Ford and sold him on the role
When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel and Bill Lawrence were asked how they got Harrison Ford on the show, Segel said Goldstein originally wanted a “Harrison Ford guy”; and he was going to hear people like Ford. Segel told Goldstein that he had to at least pitch it to Ford first, thinking he would immediately turn it down, but at least other people would hear that Harrison Ford had been brought into the project, generating interest from other major actors.
I have seen the first two episodes and I find them convincing
Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince him, but he was still excited. Part of the reason is that I found that there is some reality based on a therapist who needs therapy and wants to get in front of his patients to unexpectedly overcome his own problems.
The series is not for everyone
I also respect the way he’s presented – he’s not doing something that other therapists should be doing, and that’s pretty clear. It hasn’t gotten into the stupid situations of other shows like Loot, but it’s still early in the series and I’ll keep watching it.
